Why is Psychology important?
Students already have so much to study, right? They have extra classes for some of the same subjects after school! They also participate in extra-curricular activities! And it doesn’t just stop there! What about all those competitive examinations? And sports? Socialising? Family time? Sleeping and eating are no longer priorities in a student’s lifestyle.
So why learn Psychology, you ask? Because it helps deal with everything.
There is so much that we all have to deal with every single day, especially while interacting with people. Doesn’t it annoy you when a friend never listens to you or frustrate you when your parents force you to do things you don’t want to? Doesn’t it upset you when you don’t live up to expectations or when it feels like nobody cares? Yet there’s always a time when it’s all okay. Life is beautiful when you understand and accept why people are the way they are, including you.
Psychology is an applied science that studies the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behaviour in a given context. It is a truly fascinating subject and attempts to unravel the secrets of human nature and behaviour. It offers revelatory insight to students, facilitating tremendous self-awareness and personal growth. We believe that education must involve exploring and understanding “Why people behave, feel and think the way they do?” because it is important for students to learn how to deal with people and emotions better. We’re social animals, after all.
